Clinical Psychologist
Mel Wyllie
Carlton

Mel is authentic and warm, client-centred, and strengths-focused. Mel creates a safe and supportive space for people to explore their concerns and work towards their goals with self-compassion. With an interest in and understanding of the intersections of identity, psychological well-being, and power dynamics, Mel supports clients in navigating their concerns whilst staying attuned to broader sociopolitical contexts. Mel is trauma informed and trauma focused, gender and sexuality affirming, neuroaffirming, body neutral, and sex positive (including poly, kink, and sex work). Mel particularly values working with the LGBTQIAP+ community.

Mel works with a range of clinical and sexual concerns, particularly trauma, identity, gender, sexuality, sexual wellbeing, and intimacy and relationship concerns.

Mel is an AHPRA PsyBA approved supervisor and an integrative therapist who primarily uses somatic, cognitive, and experiential therapies underpinned by attachment theory, compassion focused therapy (CFT), and emotion focused therapy (EFT). Mel is also experienced in EMDR, IFS, IPT, DBT, trauma-focusedCBT, and ACT. Mel values working with each client to determine the best treatment approach for them.

Mel is a gender fluid queer ADHDer who loves immersing herself in all sorts of culture. They particularly love music, going to gigs, and collecting records, having a few quality beers with friends, discovering new cheap eats, and forcing cuddles with her reluctant British Blue cat Albert.
