Gender Service
Q Psychology provides gender-affirming assessment and treatment to trans and gender-diverse individuals of all ages across Australia.
Q Psychology provides gender-affirming support to trans, gender diverse, and non-binary (TGDNB) children, adolescents, adults, and their families. Our Gender Service is available at all of our clinics as well as throughout Australia via Telehealth. Our team have extensive training and experience in supporting TGDNB folk and can help with gender exploration, support gender dysphoria and other common co-occurring presentations (e.g., autism and ADHD), and also provide WPATH assessments for adults seeking gender affirming hormones or surgery. Our gender service has been established in line with best-practice and evidence-based guidelines (including the WPATH standards of care version 8 and The Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for Trans and Gender Diverse Children and Adolescents).
WPATH assessments
Values statement: We believe the purpose of this process is not to question your identity. Rather, it is to support your healthcare decisions and to assist you to achieve your goals/the best outcomes possible in a way that you feel informed, safe, and empowered. We approach our WPATH assessments in a gender affirming manner, meaning we respect your agency to make your own healthcare decisions and also recognise that journeys differ – there is no one common narrative or experience for all people.
We provide WPATH assessments for those 18 years+ seeking gender affirming hormone treatment or surgery. The assessment explores your gender journey, general background, and goals, expectations, and understanding of treatment. The process usually takes three appointments. Assessments are delivered in line with the WPATH standards of care version 8. Once the process is complete, your clinician will write a report to whichever medical professional is supporting you in your affirmation. Reports are usually valid for three months.
