Halo Jones
Halo is a provisional psychologist, completing her final year before registration at Q Psychology. She is also a tutor in psychology, and an advocate for TGD people in the family violence space. Halo works with people of all ages and backgrounds, to help them with whatever problems they are facing in life. She works within a CBT framework, but is flexible and collaborative in her approach. She aims to create a calm, safe, and welcoming space for her clients.
Halo’s work is informed by a lifetime of lived experience as a queer and transgender woman. She believes strongly in the human and social rights of gender and sexual minority groups, and recognizes the need for representation within healthcare. Halo recognizes the different and changing needs of people within the LGBTIQAP+ community. She has a particular interest in working with TGD and neurodiverse people in order to help them face their challenges, celebrate their milestones, and discover, explore, and live their authentic and unique lives.
Q Psychology is a placement location for Provisional Psychologists. Provisional Psychologists have completed at least a four year degree at University (three year undergraduate degree in psychology and a honours/graduate diploma fourth year). They are currently completing either a general registration pathway or are completing a postgraduate Masters, Doctorate, or Masters/PhD. Provisional psychologists are qualified to provide psychological assessment and treatment under the supervision of a Board-Registered Psychology Supervisor and can provide affordable psychological care to our clients. There is no requirement for a mental healthcare plan or referral and therefore long-term psychological treatment without Medicare limitations is available via this service. Q Psychology is passionate about supporting the development of psychologists through these programs.
